Kenneth Mills

Kenneth Michael Mills, age 57, of Frederick, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at home in the presence of loved ones. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and will be remembered for his courage and strength in his two-year battle. He was the husband of 30 years to Michele Renee Poeta Mills, and father of Emily Nicole and Nicholas Lawrence.

He was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School. He spent many years in the restaurant business with his father at Mills on the Hill and Old National Trails in New Market, MD. He also worked at Sugarloaf Crafts Festivals for many years. Most recently he worked at Design House Kitchens as a Warehouse Manager and Project Manager.

He was a family man and a caring friend. He was an avid hunter and golfer, who loved to cook and entertain. He enjoyed spending time at the beach with friends and family whenever he got the chance to. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do and he meant many things to many people. He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and strength. He will be greatly missed by the many people that loved him.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his father, Lawrence C. Mills, Sr.; his sister, Jill M. Manahan and husband, Bill; his brother, Richard T. Mills, Sr. and wife, Karen; mother-in-law, Margie Poeta; sister-in-law, Mandy Sideras and husband, John; and brother-in-law, Michael Poeta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends he held close to his heart.

He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Mae Waters; his brother Lawrence C. Mills, Jr. and his sister, Sheri Wahl.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 23rd at the funeral home with Deacon Debbie Williams officiating. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County and The Patty Pollatos Fund.
