Kenneth McElfresh

Kenneth McElfresh Sr., 71, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at York Hospital in York, PA. Kenneth was the husband of Lisa Kay (Daniels) McElfresh.

Born on March 24, 1948, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late John Hughsie McElfresh and Evelyn May (Rippeon) McElfresh. Kenneth worked for more than 53.5 years for Rudy's Commercial Trucking Company as a long haul driver, clocking over 6.5 to 7.5 million miles of safe driving and earning the nickname of “Rebel” on the road. In addition to his many years at Rudy’s he also worked at a dairy farm and Meadow Van and Storage. His greatest love was his trucks, he spent countless hours making sure they were well taken care of and spotless. He also enjoyed his motorcycles. If he wasn’t behind the wheel, he could be found at home spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and his beloved dog Chiko. He became known as “Pappy Kenny” to many children throughout the years. He enjoyed being outdoors rather it be going camping with his family and friends or gardening. Kenneth was a member of the American Legion and was also a member of the NRA.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kenneth “Tuck” McElfresh Jr. (Sherrie Doody), Dawn Frazier, Justin McElfresh (Randi Cannon), Destiny McElfresh (Bryan Fitzgerald); his grandchildren, Felicia McElfresh, Devin McElfresh, Garrett McElfresh, Ashlee Frazier, Blake McManus, Paityn Fitzgerald and Addison McElfresh. He is also survived by his siblings, Irene Moore (Buddy) and Ann Pearre. He will also be missed by his numerous family members, friends and his trucking friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandsons, Thomas Staub and Travis Frazier and his siblings, Margaret McElfresh and Calvin McElfresh.

The family will receive friends from 5-9pm on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
