Kenneth Jerry Marcum, formerly of Dallas, Georgia, surrounded by his loved ones, passed with peace on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland, due to debilitating pulmonary complications.
Born on May 2, 1948, in Rose Hill, Virginia, he was the forth of six children born to the late Carl and Opal Marcum. Kenneth attended Gaithersburg High School. He met his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Wagner, in 1963. They married in 1966 and raised three children in Mt. Airy, Maryland. Known and referred to today, as Kenny & Pat, they moved to Dallas, Georgia in 1995. His family was the heart of his life. He also enjoyed the ocean, fishing and Blue Grass music. He was a devoted Christian, baptized at Macland Baptist Church, in Powder Springs, Georgia, where he was formerly a member. Most recently, Kenny was an active member of New Hope First Baptist Church in Dallas, Georgia.
Kenny's life-long career as a Drywall Mechanic began at a very early age in his youth working side by side with both his dad and oldest brother. He later owned and operated his own company Phase II Drywall for many years. Kenny has always been known for his devout dedication to his trade becoming well known as 'The Mt. Airy Mudslinger'.
In addition to his life-long partner Pat, Kenny leaves behind to mourn his loss his son Dan Marcum and wife Jodi of Marion, Texas and his daughter Pam Webb and husband Daniel of Dahlonega, Georgia. He is survived by five grandsons; Brandon Nee of Woodbine, Maryland, Dustin Slepicka of Omaha, Nebraska, Ryan Marcum of Ft. Carson, Colorado, Andrew Marcum of Cibolo, Texas and Tyler Webb of Dahlonega, Georgia. Seven great-grandchildren Kylie, Jase, Liam, Zailey, Charlie, Bryson and Hunter. Three sisters; Betty Hawkins of Mt. Airy, Maryland, Linda Williams of Jonesville, Virginia and Dianne Holland of St. Petersburg, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenny was preceded in death by his son, Paul Marcum, grandson Tanner Webb and two brothers, William Marcum and Wendell Marcum.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, Maryland 21771. Funeral services will immediately follow in the chapel of the funeral home and interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy, Maryland.
Pop-pop was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
