Kenneth Donald Fraley

Kenneth Donald Fraley, 83, of Thurmont, passed from this life on Friday, December 13, 2024 at his home. He will be missed by his wife, Lois, of 57 years of marriage. 

Born on July 27, 1941, in MD, he was the son of the late Harry Donald and Edith Luella (Seipler) Fraley.

He was a 1959 graduate of Catoctin High School. In 1975, he was one of the original members of the Catoctin Medical Centers Board of Directors. He co-chaired as public fundraising committee for the construction of the Catoctin Medical Center located at South Center Street in Thurmont and was completed in 1978. From 2003-2024 he served as President of the Board of Directors of the Medical Center. He was a town commissioner of Thurmont from 1974-1979. In 1990, he retired from Mack Truck, Inc. where he was employed as a purchasing agent with the company. 

Ken was a member of the Thurmont United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school, served on many committees and sang in the choir. 

He was a member of the Beaver Creek Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his senior league friends. For the past several years, Ken especially enjoyed attending monthly church breakfasts at Chapel Lutheran with his sister. 

In addition to his wife, Lois, he is survived by his sons, Scott Fraley and wife, Emily, of Thurmont, and Jeff Fraley and wife, Leah, of Springfield, VA; daughter-in-law, Janet Fraley of New Windsor; four grandsons, Connor, Evan, Garrett, and Ryder; and sister, Carolyn J. Fraley of Thurmont. 

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Thurmont United Methodist Church, 13880 Long Road in Thurmont with services to follow. Rev. Kenneth Fizer will officiate. Burial will be held at Weller United Methodist Church Cemetery in Thurmont. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in his memory, to Frederick Health Hospice or to Thurmont United Methodist Church.
