Kenneth William Dockins, 81, of Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with melanoma. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.
Ken was born on July 11, 1943, to the late John William and Elizabeth Dushel in Baltimore, Maryland. He was also preceded in death by his younger brother, Johnny.
A lover of nature and the outdoors, Ken found true joy in hunting, golfing, and spending time with his family. His dry sense of humor and open heart made him a source of strength and comfort to those he loved. Throughout his life, Ken’s accomplishments were numerous—he earned a bachelor’s degree in Science, he was a cartographer and recognized for his significant contributions to the National Imagery and Mapping Agency. Above all, Ken was a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished grandfather. His love for his family and friends were unwavering, and he will be deeply missed and forever live on in the hearts by all who knew him.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Simy Buckwold; his children: Brad and Katie Dockins, Ryan Dockins, and Natalie Buckwold; his grandchildren; Holden, Taylor, and Devin; and his dear cousin Fran Ingram. He is also survived by his former partner, Carolyn Dockins and her family.
A Catholic Mass in Ken’s honor will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Father Retting will be officiating. A reception will follow immediately, after Mass at the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Johns Hopkins Cancer Society in Baltimore, MD, or to Dove House Bridging Life Hospice in Westminster, MD.
