Kenneth Cosens, Sr., 79, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Monday, June 27, 2011.
Born on November 16, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles Howard and Jane Corrine (Muck) Cosens. His wife, Frances Irene (Lefever) Cosens, preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Cosens was employed as a service repairman for over forty years with Montgomery Ward, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Improved Order of Red Men, Conococheague Tribe #84 in Williamsport, Maryland, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #694 in Hagerstown.
Kenneth was a thoroughbred horse trainer and owner at the old Hagerstown Fairgrounds and Charles Town.
He is survived by his children, Karen C. and her husband Dennis Talbert and Kenneth Cosens, Jr. and his wife, Linette, all of Boonsboro, Maryland; three sisters, Georgina Cosens and Priscilla Shingleton both of Virginia, and Kathy Blickenstaff of Hagerstown; one brother, Reginald Cosens of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Michelle Talbert-Smith and her husband Todd, and Denny Talbert and his wife Christine all of Hagerstown; three great-grandchildren, Tori, Ryan, and Kayla Talbert; his beloved feline companion Queen Elizabeth and grand-kitty Raven.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Kenneth was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard "Dick" Cosens and Charles "Tim" Cosens, Jr.
A graveside funeral ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Mt. Lena United Methodist Church Cemetery, 21234 Mt. Lena Road, in Boonsboro. Rev. Ray Dudley will officiate.
Family and friends will gather for fellowship at Mt. Lena United Methodist Church immediately following the service.
