Mr. Keith David Geisinger, 54, life-long Frederick County farmer, died Monday, May 4, 2015 at his home following a courageous five year battle with cancer. He was the longtime companion of Susan Ritenour for 30 years.
Born July 5, 1960 in Frederick, he was the son of Joseph Daniel Geisinger and the late Marie (Knott) Geisinger.
Keith was co-owner of Geisinger Farms LLC and Frederick Grain LLC. Together with his son, they custom crop farmed just over 2000 acres in Frederick County. Formerly dairy farmers, they devoted their efforts to crop farming in September of 2005 when the dairy herd was dispersed.
Keith loved eating dinner out and would often feast on his favorite meal of fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Keith was a hard worker, often putting in seven days a week on the farm. He enjoyed dancing, taking cruises and traveling to Ocean City. He was looking forward to his Alaskan Cruise this August.
He is survived by his son, David Geisinger and wife, Kimberly, of Frederick; his daughter, Amy Ramsburg and husband, Brett, of Frederick; four brothers, Danny Geisinger and wife, Marie, of Middletown; Gary Geisinger and wife, Becky, of Chambersburg, PA; Jeff Geisinger and wife, Patricia, of Thurmont; and Tim Geisinger and wife, Kim, of Brunswick; two sisters, Jeanne Geisinger of Frederick, and Kathy Flook and Dave Wolfe of Jefferson; and two grandchildren, Amirah Ramsburg and Zayne Ritenour.
Keith will be remembered by Susan's children, Lucas and Adam Ritenour; and many nieces and nephews, including Michael Geisinger and his wife, Dixie.
Keith was predeceased by his bother, Joseph Michael Geisinger, and two nieces, Melissa Moore and Cindy Geisinger.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8 from the funeral home chapel with Jacqui Kreh as the celebrant.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
