Kathy Cousin

Kathy Marie Cousin (60) of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  Born on August 4, 1956 in the Greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, she was the daughter of Herbert T. Hart and Elizabeth Sanderson Hart.

In 1974, Kathy graduated from General Braddock Area Senior High School in Braddock Heights, Pennsylvania.  Mrs. Cousin graduated from Youngstown State University, 1983, with an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Development and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.  In 2013, she graduated with honors from McDaniel College with a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum, Administration and Instruction.

Kathy was a passionate educator, having taught for over 30 years.  Mrs. Cousin taught for Montgomery County Public Schools from 1986 to 1996 and Frederick County Public Schools from 1996 to 2016.  She was a member of the National Education Association (NEA), the Maryland State Teachers Association (MSTA) and the Frederick County Teachers Association (FCTA).

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Harmilee Cousin Jr, her son Harmilee Cousin III, her daughter Heather E. Cousin, her mother Elizabeth S. Hart, her brother Vincent L. Hart, her brother Herbert T. Hart Jr, her sister-in-law Hellen A. Hart; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.  Kathy was preceded in death by her father Herbert T. Hart Sr. and her brother Haskell Hart.

The private funeral was held on Friday, January 27, 2017 and a public memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 3 to 7:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home; 1621 Opossumtown Pike; Frederick, Maryland.
