Mrs. Kathryn E. Kelly, 90, of Rocky Ridge, died on Monday, July 26, 2010, at St Catherine’s Nursing Home in Emmitsburg. She was the wife of Victor M. Kelly, Sr, her husband of 69 years.
Born on February 2, 1920, in Blue Ridge Summitt, she was the daughter of the late Benton and Carrie Hardman Shockey.
Kathryn was the dietary supervisor at St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg for 28 years. She enjoyed needlepoint, gospel music and family reunions, going on trips as a member of the Emmitsburg Senior Center, and loved animals and flower gardening.
Surviving in addition to her husband are 3 daughters: Brenda Roberts and husband Larry Sr. of Rocky ridge, Bonnie Yingling and husband Leo of Thurmont and Barbara Zentz and husband Morris Jr of Murrells Inlet, SC; 2 sons: Roger Kelly and wife Lynette and Victor Kelly, Jr and wife Judy all of Rocky Ridge; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Kathryn was preceded in death by sisters: Clara Mae, Ruth, Lelia and Alice; brothers: Paul, Roy and Clarence; and a grandson, Timothy Kelly.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Thursday, July 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 30, at Weller United Methodist Church, 101 N. Altamont Ave, Thurmont with Rev. Richard Broome officiating. Interment be take place in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Doug Yingling, Jr., Christopher Yingling, Curtis Yingling, Larry Roberts, Jr., R.J. Smith and Douglas Yingling, III, all grandsons and great grandsons .
