Kathryn Marie Jones, age 82, of Frederick, died peacefully Thursday, August 4, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born February 11, 1934 in Williamsport, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Emily Bower Manning.
Kathryn was a professional floral designer for over 30 years, working at Nosegay Florist in Washington DC in the 1960’s. She designed flowers for the US State Department, Embassies, The White House, and Blair House. She also was the Designer for numerous Washington DC flower shows. She was a delegate for the National Area Federation of Garden Clubs. Kathryn was owner and operator of Flowers by Kate in Olney, Maryland for many years. She also taught floral design and crafting for MJ Design. Kathryn loved to draw, paint, and create handmade greeting cards. She was a volunteer for Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Frederick, and a member of the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center. Kathryn had a strong faith and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Frederick. She loved birds, and of course flowers. She cherished spending time with family and her many friends.
Surviving are her children, Deborah Sheehy and husband Tim of Mt Airy, Jennifer Mehallick and husband Greg of Annapolis, and Mark Jones and wife Susan of Sykesville. She is also survived by a brother, Murl Manning of Texas; nine grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation on Monday, August 8, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home , 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick MD. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 11 am at St.John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 2nd Street, Frederick MD. Burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, US 15N., Frederick MD.
