Kathryn L. "Kathy" Crawford

Kathryn (Kathy) Lynn Crawford of Myersville, Maryland passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 23, 2023. She leaves behind her husband of almost 40 years, Craig, and daughters, Lauren (Josh) Williamson and Leslie (Donny) Deibler. Kathy adored her two granddaughters, Leigh (Deibler) and Corinne (Williamson), and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her grandson Reid (Deibler) expected in May. She also was extremely proud of her nephews Vincent Verdiglione (Jessica), William Collier (Karen) and John Collier (Grace).

Born in Cumberland, Maryland on January 9, 1958, she is preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Lois Nickle, stepmother Doris Nickle and beloved sister Jo-Ann Umstot Verdiglione. 

Kathy attended Allegany Community College where she was an outstanding tennis player and then Frostburg State University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in education in 1980. She earned her Master's Degree from Hood College in 1991. 

She impacted countless students as a devoted Language Arts teacher for 38 years, starting her career in Louisa, Virginia before settling and teaching in Frederick County. She ended her career in the Human Resources office where she recruited and hired new teachers before retiring in 2018.  

She never met a stranger and leaves behind many friends she loved dearly. Kathy enjoyed the beach and spent many vacations in the Outer Banks with friends and family creating memories that will last a lifetime. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM on Thursday, March 30, at Stauffer Funeral Home 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm. 
Interment will be private.
