Kathleen Martin "Kathy" Powell

Kathleen Martin "Kathy" Powell, 74, of Brunswick, passed from this life on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving and devoted wife of Michael Eugene Powell. They were married for 47 beautiful years.

Born on April 18, 1950, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Ray Martin and Betty Joyce (Waddell) Martin.

Kathy enjoyed bingo, visiting casinos, disco dancing with Mike, collecting leggings, and telling life stories. 

Times spent with her family were the most cherished to Kathy. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nanny, and the true matriarch of the family. Kathy will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children, William Cornwell (wife Jessica Cornwell), Jason Powell, Laura Baldwin (husband Joe Baldwin), and Melissa Powell; 13 grandchildren, Zach, Paulie, Trey, Shyann, Harmony, Heidi, Mackenzie, J.P., Peyton, Malachi, Mariah, Tatiana and Isaiah; two great-grandchildren, Kaizaya and Layla; her siblings, Joyce Whitten, Joan Penfold, and Robert Martin; mother-in-law, Harriet Powell; sister-in-law, Judy Flook; and brother-in-law, Scott Hoffman.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Michael Martin.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick. 

A celebration of Kathleen's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 28 from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Bill Malone and Pastor Bill Ball officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County.
