Kathleen Ellen Grossnickle Needy, age 78, of White Hall Road, Smithsburg, MD, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 30, 1930 in Frederick, MD, she was a daughter of the late Paul E. and Jennie Rebecca Frushour Grossnickle.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Raymond Edward Needy, on Oct. 12, 2000.
She was a graduate of Middletown High School.
Kathleen was a homemaker.
She was a member of Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren where she was active in WINGS.
Kathleen is survived by one son, Paul E. Needy and wife Tammy of Hagerstown; one sister, Dorotha Smith of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren, Tiffany Needy, Brittany Needy, Bethany Needy and Brooklyn Needy, all of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Janice Myers.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Rachel Black will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
