Kathleen Hoffman

March 16, 1924 — September 5, 2017

Kathleen Crouse Hoffman, 93, of Frederick, MD, passed away on September 5, 2017, at the Ballenger Creek Center.  Born in Rileyville, VA, on March 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Young and Ethel Runyon Young.  She was preceded in death by husband George F. Crouse; husband Eston Hoffman; brother Robert H. Young Sr., and nephew Robert H. Young Jr.

Kathleen worked for several years at the Frederick Tailoring Company, and later as a food service worker in the Frederick County Public Schools system.  She was a former member of the Frederick County Promenaders square dance club.  Kathleen was also a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.  She loved to watch white, fluffy clouds; collect blue glassware; do word-finding puzzles; and go on bus trips.  Kathleen’s favorite pleasure in life was spending time with her family.

Mrs. Hoffman is survived by a son, Gary Crouse, and wife Debbie of Middletown, MD.; daughter Cynthia Wyant and companion Kevin Riffle of Thurmont, MD; granddaughters Heather Crouse and Anna Crouse of Middletown, MD; and grandson Kyle Wyant and girlfriend Chantel Fullilove of Las Vegas, NV.  She is also survived by stepdaughters Nancy Rice; Jane Crummitt; Judy Baker and husband Delmar; Pam Burke and husband Rick; Doris Henry and husband Joe; and stepsons Eddie Hoffman and wife Rosemary; and Daryl Hoffman and wife June.  In addition, Mrs. Hoffman is survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 12 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 13 at 11:00 AM at Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick, with the family receiving guests an hour prior to service time.  Friends and family are invited to join the family immediately following the funeral service for a time of fellowship and a luncheon in the church multi-purpose room.  Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Middletown, following the luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kathleen’s memory to Frederick Church of the Brethren, C/O "The Deacon Fund".
