December 26, 1919 — January 9, 2014

Katherine Irene (Bowers) Rohrer, 94, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 9, 2013 at her home near Boonsboro, Maryland.

Born December 26, 1919, she was the daughter of the late C. Walter Bowers and Goldye G. (Hammond) Bowers.  Her husband, D. Arthur Rohrer, Sr. preceded her in death in April, 2005.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mervin E. Bowers.

She is survived by her children: Judith Rohrer Williamson and husband Arthur Boonsboro; Joan E. Rohrer, Hagerstown; Janet E. Rohrer and Daniel A. Rohrer, Jr. both of Boonsboro. She also leaves her granddaughter, Kristin Williamson Bucklen and husband Matthew of Newark, Delaware and the beloved great grandchildren Cameron W. and Kali E. Bucklen both of Newark.

She was the Valedictorian of the Williamsport High School Class of 1936 . Financially unable to continue her education to become a teacher, it was her goal that her 4 children obtain a college education, which each successfully achieved.

Katherine and her husband were owners of DAKAROH Farm for 50 years, working together to make it a successful dairy operation. Katherine was well known for her home cooking, especially her made-from-scratch coconut cakes which always brought top-dollar at the Keedysville Ruritan summer auction.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville, Maryland, where in her younger years, she taught children’s Sunday School. For many years, she assisted her husband as Benevolence Treasurer of the church. She was also a leader of the Keedysville Girls 4-H Club.

As she wished, graveside services will be held at 1 p.m on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville, Maryland. The Reverend Robert G. Brennan, Jr. will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21742 or to Salem United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 25, Keedysville, Maryland, 21756.
