Mrs. Katherine Blumenauer Fogle Danner, 91, of Walkersville, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Twice married, she was predeceased by her first husband, Roger W. Fogle in 1960 and her second husband, Franklin E. Danner in 2011.
Born October 3, 1921 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Katherine Schade Blumenauer.
Known affectionately as "Granny", she enjoyed spending time with her great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Ashley. She was a lifetime member of All Saint's Episcopal Church and was actively involved in St. Mary's Chapter of the church.
She was a graduate of Frederick High School, Class of 1941, and had just attended her 71st class reunion last Saturday. Mrs. Danner also celebrated her 91st birthday a few days ago with her family.
She enjoyed volunteering with the Walkersville Senior Citizens and at the Great Frederick Fair. She worked the Information Booth at the fair, as well as organized all the fair's ribbons. Mrs. Danner thoroughly enjoyed nature and gardening and all of life's beautiful surroundings.
Her family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to Dr. Barakat and staff for the wonderful care given to their Granny.
Mrs. Danner is survived by two grandchildren, Katherine "Christy" Fogle Fuss and her husband, David, of Frederick, and Robert W. Fogle, Jr. of Walkersville; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Fuss and Ashley Fuss; daughter-in-law, Susie Fogle of Walkersville and her friend, Charles Warner; brother, Charles D. Blumenauer of the Elks Home in Virginia; two cousins, Mary Elma Quill and Evelyn Schade, both of Frederick; and several nieces and nephews.
She will be fondly remembered by Susie's family, the Duvall siblings- Barbara, Linda, Mary and Bucky and their families, with whom she enjoyed many family gatherings.
In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her son, Robert W. Fogle, Sr. in 1983; two sisters, Juanita Pegan and Charlotte Burdette; and a brother, Roy C. Blumenaur.
Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 12 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Kay Rice.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
