Katie “Katiebug” Buck, 26, died unexpectedly April 16, 2024, at Lorien Nursing Home in Mt. Airy. She was born August 23, 1997 in Rockville, the daughter of Michael Louis Buck and Donna Lee (Gossard) Buck.

Katie graduated from Rock Creek School in 2018.

Katie was born with a severe brain disorder which left her unable to walk or talk and only reach the developmental age of 5-7 months. Katie loved people making silly sounds to try to get her to laugh. If she ever rewarded you with a smile, you knew you were one of the special people in her life. Katie really enjoyed aquatic therapy and missed her “pool time” after graduation. Katie enjoyed shaking mylar balloons and ringing bells. Katie hated wind, rain and snow in her face. Katie taught everyone she met what was important in life. She was loved by so many people.

She was predeceased by her grandmother, Sharon Lee Gossard, her grandfather, Billy Louis Buck, and her uncle Douglas Lee Gossard II.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother Kevin Michael Louis Buck and wife Victoria Lynn Woltz; grandfather Douglas Lee Gossard; grandmother Bonnie Jean Carder; Aunt Darlene Diehl and husband Wayne; Uncle Dan Gossard and wife Amy; Aunt Debra Reid-Gossard and wife Becky; Uncle Bret Buck and wife Debbie; Aunt Jill Gossard; nieces Serina Sage Buck and Madison Rae Buck; and many cousins and second cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28 from 1 to 4 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. Following visiting hours, friends and family are invited to join in a meal at New Market Fire Hall, 76 West Main Street (on the backside of the firehouse), New Market, MD from 4:00 to 6:30 pm.
