Mrs. Karen Hahn Welch, 49, of Frederick died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at her home. She was the loving wife of James Welch.

Born May 12, 1965 in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of Harold H. Hahn, Sr. of Hanover, PA and the late Edna Patricia Hauver Hahn.

Karen was employed as a Patient Accounts Representative for Frederick Memorial Hospital for the last seven years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making crafts. She loved all animals but held a special fondness for her cats.

Karen was active in The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life campaign. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband and father, Karen is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Welch and Donna Jackson; four grandchidren, Jacob, Aiden, Carter and Kamden; her siblings, Harold Hahn, Jr., Arlene Ayers, Brenda Hahn, Dave Hahn, Linda Christman, Lisa Hahn-Kirby, Tricia Hahn, Lori Hahn, and Amy Hahn; and 13 nieces and nephews, Kevin, Tim Jr., Kathy, Jennifer, Jenn, Cody, Amber, Chrissy, Matthew, Garrett, Heather, Eric, Robbie.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Ernie Thayil.

Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Frederick County Humane Society, P.O. Box 3185, Frederick, MD 21705-3185.
