Karen Christine (Horton) Shillieto passed away on September 22, 2022.
Karen loved life, she could fill up a space and you always knew where she was from her laugh. She loved color, music, theater, and life. She would express her love and creativity most often through her amazing food, a hug, and words that would somehow make you laugh and make it clear that she was there for you. But also, not hesitate to tell you if she thought you were the one who needed to get it together. At a party, you could find out she had somehow had a conversation with everyone there and made them all feel welcome and comfortable enough that they would then go talk to others and enjoy themselves.
Knowing Karen there is no surprise she majored in theater in college and did costumes and makeup for a local children’s theater. Karen enjoyed meeting new people through home marketing, Discovery Toys, Southern Living at Home, and Park Lane Jewelry. Besides her family her passion was food. She graduated from culinary college when she was younger and was starting a food and drink blog.
Karen leaves behind a loving and devoted family: a husband, Clyde, two children, Sydney and Robert, and two brothers, John and Russell Horton.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Sunday, October 2, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt Airy where a celebration of Karen"s life will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private
