Karen Rickinson

Karen Rickinson, 63, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, June 4, 2023 in Walkersville, Maryland.

Born on March 6, 1960, in Middlesborough, England, she was the daughter of Frederick Rickinson and Audrey (Marsay) McDougall.

After spending her young childhood traveling the world globally with her family, she came to the United States as a middle-schooler.  She graduated from The Hallen School in New Rochelle, NY in 1979.

Karen’s love and desire to care for children and seniors led her to work with children in her early years and at senior assisted living facilities later on.  She so much enjoyed taking care of others and became the full-time caregiver for her mother, Audrey McDougall towards the end of her life.

Karen loved to travel to her native England among other locales, and enjoyed crafting as hobbies.

She is survived by her mother, Audrey McDougall, and sister, Janette Rickinson, along with extended, blended family members, the Carrows, and Nick Farrell.

She is preceded in death by her father, Frederick Rickinson.

A celebration of Karen's life journey will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 14 W. Pennsylvania Ave Walkersville, Maryland on Friday, June 23, 2023, with the Visitation at 1:00 PM and the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. A repast will follow the service in the Parish Hall.  Pastor Phil Beck will officiate.
