June L. Veihmeyer

Mrs. June L. Veihmeyer, 82, passed away peacefully Friday, March 12, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born June 27, 1927 in Manteo on Roanoke Island, North Carolina, she was the daughter of late Laurence and Thalia Lamphear, and the wife of the late Francis X. Veihmeyer, her husband for 50 years.
June received her nursing degree at Georgetown University and began her nursing career at Georgetown Hospital. She and Frank raised their six children in Bethesda, MD. After moving with her family to Tallahassee, Florida, she continued as a nurse at Tallahassee Regional Medical Center. She and her husband lived in Frederick, Md. before retiring to Sun City in Bluffton, South Carolina where she was an avid golfer and longtime parishioner at St. Gregory the Great.
She is survived by her six children: Judith Veihmeyer of Potomac, Carol Veihmeyer-Cecil and husband Doug Cecil of Atlanta, Kevin Veihmeyer of Atlanta, Michael Veihmeyer of Milwaukee, Laurence Veihmeyer and his wife Kelly of Frederick, and Helen Veihmeyer-Riddle of Frederick. Her spirit continues on with her nine grandchildren: David and Matthew Risk, Seth and Sophia Cecil, Keely and Brady Veihmeyer, Jenifer Beach, and Kate and Jack Riddle.

Services: A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland and guests are invited for a reception at the Courtyard Marriott, 5225 Westview Dr. Frederick, MD 21703.
