Mrs. June Ida ( Horman ) Walters, 81, of Frederick, a very special lady passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband John H. Walters in 1978.
Born on June 25, 1925 in Frederick County, she was a daughter of the late Walter H. and Grace C.(Winpigler) Horman.
Mrs. Walters was a member of Frederick Church of the Brethren. In her earlier years she was employed at the shipyards during WW II , later for many years she served as a supervisor at the sewing factory, most recently known as Hartz Co. Mrs. Walters was a member and retired from the Loyal Order of the Moose # 371, Frederick, after thirty two years of service. She was also a member of the American Legion.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grand- mother and friend. She always took time for her friends and anyone who might need someone to listen. She touched many lives and will not be forgotten. As her great granddaughter described her She was kind, gentle and loving.
Surviving are a son Jerry W. Walters and wife Lana Faye of Knoxville, MD , daughter, Nancy Lee Thomas of Frederick; four brothers; Walter E. Horman and wife Fay of Sebring, FL, Larry D. Horman of New Windsor, Richard A. Horman and fiance Kitty of Niew Windsor, Harold Gus Horman wife Margaret of Union Bridge, a sister Phyllis Bowlus of Jefferson, four grandchildren; Tony Michael Walters and wife Sherry, Jerri Lynn French and husband Wayne, David Thomas, Jr., Amy June Beall and husband Mathew, two special great-granddaughters Celine and Sarah French.
Ms. Walters will also be remembered by her fiance Milton French.
She was preceded in death by sisters Nancy M. Simpson and Patsy L. Barnes, a brother
Robert L. Horman.
Visitation: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Thursday, Nov. 30th, from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Services:
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1100 a.m. with Rev. Thomas A. Young officiating.
Interment to follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Servicing as pallbearers will be Gary Smith, Clarence Tobery, Mathew Beall, Tony Walters, David I. Thomas, Sr. and David I. Thomas, Jr.
