June Lochner Tucker, beloved wife, mother, and telephone operator in World War II, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, in Frederick, Maryland. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Maryland on July 26, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Elva and Howard Lochner.
June lived a long and happy life, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished. Her warm and caring personality touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She had an outgoing spirit and would go out of her way to help anyone in need.
After graduating from Frederick High School as part of the class of 1941, June dedicated herself to serving her country during World War II as a telephone operator. Her selfless service was greatly appreciated by all those she assisted during that time.
While June's career was important to her, being a mother and wife brought her the greatest joy. She poured love into everything she did for her family. Her cooking and baking were legendary among her loved ones, who eagerly looked forward to every meal she prepared. June took great pleasure in collecting recipes and creating delicious dishes that brought smiles to the faces of her family.
In addition to her culinary talents, June was well-known for her meticulous handmade dishcloths and scrubbies. She took pride in creating these unique items, which added a personal touch to every kitchen they graced.
Throughout her life, June enjoyed leisurely activities such as word searches and playing cards. These pastimes brought her much joy until she sadly lost her sight. Despite this challenge, she faced it with grace and continued to find ways to stay engaged with the world around her.
An active member of the community, June held membership at Mt. Pleasant United Church of Christ. Her faith was an integral part of her life and provided guidance and strength in times both good and difficult.
June's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her role as a devoted wife and mother. She was married to her beloved husband, James Eugene Tucker, for 66 years until his passing in 2010. Their love was a beacon of inspiration to all who knew them. June is survived by her loving daughter Linda McGinnes and her husband Robert, sons James Michael Tucker and wife Ana, and Timothy Richard Tucker and wife Cyndi.
