June Mitchell

June Adele Mitchell, 65, of Mt. Airy, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 10th, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends.  She was the loving wife of Allen Hearn Mitchell, her husband of 44 years.  Born July 12, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Doris (Williams) Miller.  June was a ten-year breast cancer survivor.

June was born and raised in Howard County.  She and Allen moved to a farm in Mt. Airy in 1985 where they raised their family.  June was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and friends.  She loved to entertain, always welcoming people into her warm and cheerful home.  A beloved member of Damascus Road Community Church, June had a strong Christian identity and faith that many called inspiring.  She served by giving countless hours of her time for various causes over the years; most recently she was a Good Samaritan at Frederick Memorial Hospital and an officer in the Mount Airy Garden Club.  Allen and her grandchildren were the joy of June's life.

Surviving in addition to her husband Allen are two sons and their wives, Chester and Jennifer Mitchell, and Luke and Beth Mitchell; six grandchildren, Jessica, Cole, Julia, Tanner, Theodore and Tessa Mitchell; brothers Stanley and Jesse Miller and sisters Mary Ruth (Miller) Harless and Claudia (Miller) Dorsey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 19th at Damascus Road Community Church,12826 Old National Pike, Mount Airy, MD 21771.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the FMH Cancer Institute, Frederick Memorial Hospital Office of Development, 400 W. 7th St, Frederick, MD 21701.
