June E. Smith Latimer, 89, of Hagerstown and formerly of Boonsboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Holly Place.
Born on May 23, 1931, in Locust Grove, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Myrtle Estelle (Haupt) Smith. June was preceded in death by her first husband, Lemuel R. Holler, and by her second husband, Harry E. Latimer, Jr.
She was a 1949 graduate of the Boonsboro High School. For many years, June worked as a day care provider but before then she was employed by Londontown. She enjoyed reading, crafts, playing cards and games, and gardening. June was a former member of the American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary, Ladies Democratic Club, and Senior Citizens who met in Keedysville. Her family was her life and she cherished each and every one.
She was a member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Boonsboro.
June is survived by her children, Lynn Holler and wife, Carol, and Glenn Mann and wife, Judy, all of Boonsboro, Melinda Simmons and husband, Robert, of Lusby, MD and Keith Mann and wife, Donna, of Clarksville, MD; grandchildren, Danielle Leonard, Jeremy (Tara) Holler, Justin (Nicole) Holler, Jared (Rachael) Mann, Lauren (Raoof) Saber, Amanda (Steve) Parkinson, Jessica (Paige) Simmons, Emily Mann, and Joshua Mann; great-grandchildren, Molly Leonard, Jacob, Trent, Lukas, Kennedy ,and Maddox Holler, Steven Parkinson, Nora Mann, and Carlyle Saber; nieces and nephews; and the Latimer children and their families.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mae Ryman; brothers, Robert and Samuel Smith; and her grandson, Jason Simmons.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holly Place, 268 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Holly Place for the exceptional care they gave their mother.
