June Joy Benjamin, 93, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at her home. She was the wife of the late James G. Benjamin, who predeceased her in 1988.
Born on November 10, 1931, in Weaverton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Joy and Virginia (Reynolds) Joy.
June graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1950, and served as class secretary.
After graduation from BHS, she became the bookkeeper for Litton's Chevrolet until it was sold. She was then employed as a bookkeeper by Dr. Allgaier, and then Drs Allgaier and Kinland from 1974 to 1989. After working outside her home, she helped to raise her grandchildren.
She is survived by son, James K. Benjamin and wife, Victoria; grandchildren, James Edward Benjamin and his wife Colleen, Jonathan Christopher Benjamin and his wife Nikki, Abigail Elizabeth and her husband Arturo, and Joel Matthew Benjamin; great-grandchildren, James Joseph Benjamin, Caleb Patrick Benjamin, and Lucy Scarlett Benjamin; and additional family members including Delores Garten. She will be remembered by her dear friends, Shirley Cooper, and Barbara Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick, MD, with a celebration of life to begin at 2 p.m.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Petersville.
