Becker (Mathews), Julie Ann, 54, of Thurmont, MD, originally from Marysville, OH, passed away on August 9, 2016, after a valiant fight against breast cancer.
Julie was born September 25, 1961 to Jerry and Judith (Spitler) Mathews.
Julie served with honor and distinction as a Russian Cryptologic Linguist in the United States Air Force for over 22 years, retiring on August 1, 2004 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Her military honors include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal for her service in Berlin, Germany.
She was a loving, dedicated and devoted mother to her daughters Carolyn and Sarah, and a doting grandmother to her grandsons Aidan and Anthony Cash.
She was preceded in death by her mother Judith, father Jerry and brother Jeffrey. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn and Sarah, her sisters Jodie and Jeanne, brother-in-law Charlie, and nieces Kayla, Taylor, and Hunter.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont.
Final interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. A small service for family members will be held at that time.
