Mrs. Julia “Judy” Page Printz Hill, 85, previously of Jefferson, MD, peacefully passed to join God, family, and friends on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in San Antonio, TX. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Joseph William Hill.
She was born on May 4, 1927, in Luray, VA, the 7th of 8 children to the late Oscar Marion Printz and Anna Julia Long. Judy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Judy started her career working for National Geographic in Washington, DC. In the early 1950s she met a handsome young sailor whom she married in June 1953. After her marriage, they were blessed with three children and Judy devoted her time to raising her family. When her children were grown, she re-entered the workforce in a variety of retail positions. She retired to take care of her husband, Joe, upon his declining health.
Judy and Joe took pleasure in touring the world and the United States during his Navy career and then again in retirement. They were especially fond of nature and took great joy visiting national parks. Judy was an avid gardener and took great pride in keeping her yard showcase ready. She would spend hours cultivating her flowers, shrubs, trees, lawn, and vegetable garden.
Judy was an active member of the United Church of Christ, Jefferson, until her move to San Antonio, TX. She served as a member of the choir and assisted with the Sunday School program. In addition, she always looked forward to working at the church suppers.
Due to declining health, Judy moved to San Antonio, TX, for the last few years of her life. She enjoyed several bus trips to historic Texas landmarks such as the old missions and legendary Riverwalk, and made new friends in her travels.
Judy is survived by three children, Nancy Montgomery and husband Richard of San Antonio, TX; Diane Beall and husband Maurice of Chesterfield, VA; and Mark Hill and longtime partner Sharon Woodby of Compton, AR. In addition, Judy is survived by two stepsons, Richard Hill and wife Marilyn of Wappinger Falls, NY; and Gary Hill and partner Deborah Edrozo of Arcade, NY. Judy is also survived by ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Jefferson United Church of Christ, Jefferson. Pastors John and Rebecca Shillingburg will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Jefferson Reformed Cemetery.
