Mrs. Julia Starr Satterfield, 94 of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at Golden Living Center.
Born January 6, 1917 in Farmington, W. Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John and Juliana Danchak (Csillag) Starr. She was the wife of the late Sterling H. Satterfield.
Mrs. Satterfield was a member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. She retired after 30 years from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Rural Electrification Administration, as a Senior Loan Analyst and assistant chief. Julia did EEO Reviews for the USDA and was on the Board of REA Credit Union. She organized trips and traveled over the world in the USDA Travel Club. She was a member of the Frederick Senior Citizens Center and always enjoyed playing bridge.
She is survived by her son John Satterfield and wife Ellen of Jefferson and daughter Lyn Satterfield of Spotsylvania, VA, her grandchildren Jane Satterfield and husband Ned Balbo, Sean Satterfield and wife Anastasia, Paul Satterfield and wife Kama Dwyer, Peter Satterfield and wife Heather, Matthew Satterfield, Regan Sanchez, and Jay Sanchez, and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Scott Sanchez, a great granddaughter Amy Satterfield and a brother Joseph Starr.
The family wishs to thank Somerford Assisted Living, Golden Living Center, Hospice of Frederick County and Dr. Ali Afrooteh. for the care provided for her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 28, at 11:00 am from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 112 E. Second Street, Frederick.
Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery, Harpers Ferry, WV.
