Julia Green

Julia May (Phillips) Green, 97, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born on December 2, 1913 in Yarrowsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Earl Bowman and Flora Virginia (Shawen) Phillips.  Her husband, Harold Perry Green, preceded her in death on October 17, 2008.

Julia was 1931 graduate from Boonsboro High School and also had attended the Hagerstown Business School.  She was the last surviving charter member of the Fahrney-Keedy Present Chapel.  She will be remembered fondly as a talented pianist and amateur painter.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Green and his wife Suzanne of Clarksville, Maryland; her daughter-in-law, Judy Green of Clear Spring, Maryland; her five grandchildren, Michelle Kalendek, Tonya Oberhaus, Allyson Green, Douglas Green and Nicole Conway; and seven great-grandchildren, Travis, Luke, Bethany, Faith, Ariel, Tyson, and Logan.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Julia was preceded in death by her son, Robert "Bunny" Green; one grandson, Robert Green, Jr.; one great-grandson, Gavin Ritchey; her sister, Ardell Cronise; and her four brothers, Wilbur "Jack" Phillips, Warren Phillips, Earl "Bobby" Phillips, and Marshall Phillips.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
