Judy A. Koontz, 67, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 29, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, after a long battle with Lymphoma Cancer.
Born on February 15, 1947, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Judy (McVicker) Manges, Sr.
Judy attended Forbes High School in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
Her working career began at Middletown Bank as a bank teller. After many years at Middletown Bank, Judy began working at F&M Bank (now PNC Bank), where she would retire as a bank teller supervisor, after many years of dedicated service. After her retirement, Judy enjoyed spending time at her home on the mountain and growing many types of flowers.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Donald C. Koontz, Sr., whom she married on June 27, 1964; her two sons, Donald . Koontz, Jr. of Boonsboro and Ernest Koontz of Keedysville; and her brother, Lloyd Manges, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Somerset County, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Donald Koontz, III and Emma Sue Koontz; and one great- granddaughter, Chloe Lynn. She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Kristy and Billy; her cousins, Walt and Joyce; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate. In addition, another memorial service will be held at the Hooversville Church of the Brethren in Hooversville, Pennsylvania at a later date.
