Judy Betts

Judy Darlene (Shank) Betts, 68, of Funkstown, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at her home.
Born on July 13, 1948, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Russell Edward Shank, Sr. and Pauline Louise (Smith) Shank. Her husband, Carroll "Petie" Eugene Betts, preceded her in death in 2003.
She was a 1966 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She was employed for over 40 years at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, retiring in 2014.
Judy was a avid reader, and she was a dedicated grandmother who loved to talk about her grandsons.
She is survived by her daughter Paula K. Hottinger, of Funkstown; two sisters, Rosie Mae Wiggins and husband Douglas of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Kay Ellen Shank and husband Ronald of Clear Spring, Maryland; and two grandchildren, Dalton and Dawson Hottinger, both of Funkstown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Russell E. Shank, Jr.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 West Washington Street in Hagerstown. Pastor Corey Bane will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
