Judith A. Phillips

Judith A. Phillips, 77, of Boonsboro, MD, entered God's eternal care on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD after a brief illness.  Born December 29, 1944 in Brunswick, MD she was the daughter of the late Joseph Lawrence and Clara (Keyser) Himes.  Judy was the loving wife of Gary W. Phillips with whom she shared fifty-eight years of marriage.  

Judy was a 1962 graduate of Boonsboro High School and received a cosmetology degree at WV College of Beauty Culture before marrying Gary on March 21, 1964.  She worked as a beautician and for the school system in the cafeteria for several years while raising her children.  She was then employed at Erie Insurance in the claims office and most recently, worked part-time for Weis Markets.  She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend to all who were blessed enough to have her as part of their lives.  Judy was a devoted church member of both Hagerstown Grace Brethren Church for many years and currently Brownsville Church of the Brethren in Knoxville, MD.  She enjoyed helping her husband at the local food banks, as well as time spent with family and many close friends, reading, and various travels with her husband.  Although now in a better place, she was a kind, beautiful soul who will be dearly missed by those whose lives were so much richer due to her love, wit, and wisdom.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Susan Donachy and husband Allen Smith of Littlestown, PA, daughter Holly Simon and husband David of Martinsburg, WV, sister Sandy Jones and husband William of Sharpsburg, MD; brother Hilton Himes and wife Arlene of Williamsport, MD; granddaughter Drew Holderby of Keyser, WV and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Judy's life journey at 11AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Rd, Knoxville, MD 21758, Rev. Calvin Park will officiate. 

Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
