Juanita Marie Ritty, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024 in Walkersville, Maryland. Born on May 8, 1949, in , Washington, she was the beloved daughter of Gerald Lamarr Perry and Lois Joyce Hoisington Perry.
Juanita graduated from Columbia River High School in Vancouver, WA, where she cultivated a lifelong love of learning and creativity. She later pursued her interest in interior design at Lewis and Clark College.
For many years, Juanita dedicated herself to running a household and raising a family before embarking on a fulfilling career alongside her daughter. Together, they co-founded The Owl Nest, a metaphysical store in Frederick, which they ran for thirteen years. In this space, Juanita discovered her passion and purpose, helping others explore paths of holistic health, healing, and earth-based spiritualities. She was a trusted advisor and mentor to many, known for her intuitive wisdom and gentle guidance.
Juanita was also a devoted student of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids, where she embraced her love for spiritual growth and connection to nature. This journey nurtured her deep respect for the environment, and her understanding of ancient wisdom and its relevance to modern life.
Together with her husband, Donald, Juanita enjoyed the freedom and adventure of traveling in their motor home. They crisscrossed the country numerous times, savoring the beauty of America's National Parks, historical landmarks, and sacred landscapes. These travels were among her happiest times, as she found joy and serenity in nature’s wonders.
A lifelong learner, Juanita was an avid student of astrology and a dedicated participant in yoga. Her spiritual pursuits and open-hearted nature allowed her to cultivate meaningful connections with people from all walks of life.
Juanita is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Donald Richard Ritty; her daughter, Tamar (Tammy) Christine Bradley; son-in-law, James Alan Bradley; and her cherished granddaughter, Jasmine Hope Bradley. Her family will forever remember her as a source of warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 21, at 11:00 AM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
In honor of Juanita's legacy and her love for nature, memorial donations may be made to The National Park Foundation.
