Mr. J. Paul Gouge, 61, of Walkersville, MD died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband for 11 years to Janice Trent Gouge.
Born in Appalachian, VA on January 23, 1945 he was the son of the late Arnold and Eva (McKenny) Gouge. A graduate of Linganore High School he served during the Viet Nam War Era in the United States Army.
Paul had worked with his brother, Jim, at Gouge Brothers Construction before starting his own business fifteen years ago, Southland Construction.
A devoted member of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, he spent most of his spare time helping in any way he could at the church.
Besides his wife survivors include; his two step children, Douglas Ray Phebus of Woodbine, MD and Melissa Corwell and husband Keith of Clear Spring, MD; his loving granddaughters, Rachel Corwell of Clear Spring and Amberleigh and Kaitlin Phebus both of Mt. Airy, MD; four sisters, Joyce Bostic of Mt. Airy, Helen Moreno of Bel Air, MD, Jean Shaeffer of Finksburg, MD and Linda Tipton of Union Bridge, MD; three brothers, Malone Gouge of Mt. Airy, Jim Gouge of New Windsor, MD and Ernest Gouge of Houston, TX; his aunt, Sally McKenny of Bakersfield, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also proceeded in death by his sisters Pearl LaQuey and Edna Peirson.
Visitation:
Friends may call at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Friday from 2 until 8 PM where the family will be in attendance from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Parris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Michael Teague, Blane Blank, Glen Tabler, Bill Cooper, Saul Rivera and Ines Albino serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Patty Pollatos Fund, Inc., 11102 Eagletree Drive, New Market, MD 21774-6704 or to the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 13864-C old National Pike, Mt. Airy MD 21771.
