Joseph "Sonny" Vargo
January 17, 1940 — August 25, 2017
Mr. Joseph "Sonny" Vargo, 77, of Jefferson, MD died on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Mae Vargo on July 4, 2006. They were married for 45 years.
Born January 17, 1940 in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Olga (Pallagi) Vargo.
He was a deacon at the Middletown Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Sonny was an iron worker out of Local #5 in Washington, D.C. for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy M. Vargo and Mary Ann Rexrode, both of Winchester, VA.; a brother, Jerry Vargo of Brunswick, MD; two nephews, Robert Rexrode and Rev. Ricky Rexrode, both of Winchester; and two great-nieces, Annie Eckert and Laura Rexrode.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD 21716.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 31 from the Middletown Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1811 Arnold Road, Jefferson, MD 21755. Officiating will be Pastor Josh Voigt.
Entombment will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday in the mausoleum at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
