Joseph Yeager

Mr. Joseph George Yeager, of Walkersville, passed away at his home on September 13, 2010. He was the husband of Genevieve Lillian (Wolf) Yeager of Walkersville for 52 years.

Born April 15, 1928 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph George Yaeger, Sr. and the late Clementine Olga (Macek) Yaeger.

Joe served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. He moved to Frederick County with his family in 1968 where he worked for the Frederick County Government until he retired in 1988. He was responsible for the installation of the first large scale computer system ever utilized by the Frederick County Government. Joe was also a long-time member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Walkersville. In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, reading a great book and gardening. Joe was a much loved husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

Joe was blessed with a large and loving family including six children - Mark Joseph Yeager and wife Cynthia of Frederick, Mary Catherine Fitzgerald of Frederick, Donna Marie White and husband Jonathan of Olney, Bryan Joseph Yeager and wife Donna of Westminster, Glenn Joseph Yeager and wife Margaret of Hagerstown and Paul Joseph Yeager and wife Patricia of Myersville. He also enjoyed his twenty grandchildren – Kelley, Joshua, Joseph, Steven, Matthew, Benjamin, Abigail, Emily, Wesley, Nicole, Andrew, Bethany, Christopher, Austin, Hannah, Maria, Samantha, Alexa, Nathan and Jessica. Mr. Yeager was also survived by two brothers - Ronald Yaeger of Dallas, Texas and Michael Yaeger of Ellicott City, a sister - Christine Pavlo of Ellicott City and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on both Wednesday September 15, and Thursday September 16, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 17, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Rd., Walkersville with Rev. Richard Murphy as Celebrant. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
