Joseph William Wilson Jr., 70, of Frederick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. Born on August 15, 1947 in Washington, DC, he was the son of Joseph, Sr. and Alcena Wilson. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Diane Rose Wilson. He was also known as Pop Pop, Angel and Capt'n Seaweed. He touched the lives of many.
He was a very proud father to Jodi Marie Leaman and Joe Paul Wilson; grandfather to Brittany Diane Leaman, Raymond Joseph Leaman, Ella Rose Wilson, Tyler Joseph Wilson; and great-grandfather to Cameron Joseph Leaman and Jrue William Leaman. He was the big brother to Dennis Paul Wilson and Diane Catherine Roberts and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews. Joe will be remembered fondly for his deep love and devotion to his family and friends, loyalty to his career at Frederick County Public Schools and the Friendliest Beef Carver at Dutch's Daughter Restaurant.
He took pride in his work and will be missed by the countless students and teachers who he touched the lives of and the patrons at Dutch's Daughter Restaurant owned by his second family, the Gideon's.
Joe had many gifts and talents, but one of his greatest qualities was his ability to brighten up a room and lift anyone up with his big smile. He enjoyed his Dallas Cowboys, his New York Yankees and loved the roar and excitement of NHRA Drag Racing.
He loved jazz music, dancing with his wife and watching movies. Joe was a simple man who lived life in a big way.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
