Mr. Joseph M. Wilson, 84, of Frederick, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Frederick. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Marie (Winebrener) Wilson, his loving bride of 54 years.

He was born in Roanoke, VA, and was the son of Charles L. and Dora M. (Powell) Wilson. He retired from Airpax Corporation (formerly Price Electric) in 1985 after 34 years. He was a draftsman and CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) operator. He also taught part-time for Frederick Community College for 38 years while working at Airpax and after retiring.

Mr. Wilson was an active member of Frederick Civitan for 50 years. He assisted the clubs fund-raising efforts by selling Claxton Fruitcakes and parking cars during the Great Frederick Fair. The money raised was given to the Jeannie Buzzard Work Shop and was also used to purchase a van.

He attended church at The Frederick Church of the Brethren where he enjoyed singing in the Chancel Choir.

He sang in the choir for 60 years. He also enjoyed going to the Metropolitan Opera and the Kennedy Center.

He served briefly in the 88 th Infantry Division, United States Army and was in Italy in 1945 following WWII.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wilson is survived by his son, Jeffrey S. Wilson and his wife, Karen (Stultz) Wilson, of Walkersville. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brianna Wilson, Brooke Wilson and, Micah Wilson, all of Charles Town, WV. Joseph was preceded in death by five sisters and is also survived by four sisters: Virginia L. Wilson (Roanoke, VA), Dora M. Hubbard (Mechanicsville, VA), Ruby M. Roberson (Hillsborough, NC), and Eva L. Sencindiver (Strasburg, VA).

The family will receive friends 1 hour before the Memorial Service on 30 October, 2010 at 11am at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick. The Rev. Paul Mundey and the Rev. Sandi Rogers will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations in Mr. Wilson’s name to the Frederick Church of the Brethren Building Fund or to The Alzheimer’s association of Frederick County.

Place of Internment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Golden Living Nursing Home as well as the doctors and staff of Dr. Sajjad A. Aziz of Frederick for the care and compassion they expressed to Mr. Wilson.
