Joseph Miller

January 19, 1933 — November 7, 2009



Joseph Miller, 76 of Frederick, MD died at the VA Hospital, Martinsburg, WV Saturday, November 7th. Born in Frederick, MD January 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Margaret D. and Alonzo Miller.

He is survived by his wife K. Joan Miller of nearly 49 wonderful and fulfilling years, two daughters Jodene Mumaw and husband Greg, of Smithsburg, and Jonette Miller, of Frederick, three grandchildren, Blaine and Shannon Mumaw of Smithsburg, and Jonelle Little of Frederick.

He is survived by two sisters, Mary Hargis of Frederick, Lenora McKenzie of Baltimore, his brother Richard Miller of Frederick and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Doll Murphy and his brother Grayson Miller.

Joe attended St. Johns School and military school in Maryland. He worked at Price Electric, Data Control and was part owner of Modern Metal Technology, Frederick Manufacturing and last business Automation Fabricators and Engineering Company with his business partner and best friend James McGovern. He continued to operate the business after James' death until he retired. Upon his retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and abroad, most recently a trip to Alaska.

Joe was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Orioles Nest #287, Investment Club, 1600 Club at Elk Lodge and a life member of the Last Man's Korean Club, Korean Club #142, American Legion Post #11, VFW #3285, Moose #371, Amvets Post #2, and Elk Lodge #684.

Joe enjoyed his three grandchildren whom he loved very much and was very proud. He enjoyed golfing and target shooting. He had many friends and will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever.



Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, November 12th from 6:00-9:00 PM.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Friday, November 13th at 1:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 116 East 2nd Street, Frederick with Rev. Richard Murphy officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Blaine Mumaw, Lt Col. James McGovern, David McGovern, Matthew McGovern, Patrick McGovern and Christopher McGovern.

Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery following the services.
