Joseph John Lambdin born June 4, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Joseph John and Dolores Etta Lambdin passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024 at his home in Chesterfield, Virginia surrounded by his family.
Joe was a Navy veteran who proudly served his country and valiantly demonstrated the values of patriotism, honor and dedication. He had a successful career at Xerox where he earned respect for his hard work, leadership and it provided him with amazing opportunities to travel the globe. He officially retired in 2001 but was not able to sit still. Over the next several years he would have part time jobs at Fort Detrick, Walt Disney Resort, Sears, Bob’s Discount Furniture, Walmart, and Sam’s Club.
He was known for his sharp wit and kind heart. Joe lit up a room and people migrated to be around him and loved his fun, outgoing personality. He was the life of the party! He loved dancing, country gospel music, his red truck, being funny, telling jokes, piddling around in his workshop, playing cards, reading, building a train garden, telling stories, his pocket knife, eating potato chips and apple pie!
Joe is married to the love of his life, Virginia “Ginny” Lambdin for just over 60 years. They built a legacy of love and many fond memories by traveling, moving coast to coast, serving others, and working hard. They loved serving as missionaries in the Texas Houston South Mission and the adventures that new places created. But, in the end, whenever they could live close to their kids and grandkids they were the happiest.
Over the years, Joe would have many titles. But, his most cherished titles were husband, Dad and PopPop/Grandpa. He loved his family deeply and unconditionally. He is survived by his wife, Ginny, 3 children and their spouses, 10 grandchildren and 3 spouses , 4 great grandchildren and a handful of furry grandpuppies. As well as his brother and his spouse and a handful of nieces and nephews and cousins. Each was the light of his life.
In the coming days, memories of Joe will always be associated with a good joke or something to make you laugh, black licorice, collector of hats and watches, and a fabulous whistler. He had a love for fishing, sea otters, golf, all things Disney and early mornings. He left a powerful example of someone who was always ready with a helping hand, a heartfelt word of encouragement and a love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed but He will never be too far away.
Joe’s final send off has been entrusted to Stauffers Funeral Home in Frederick, Maryland. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 199 North Place, Frederick, Maryland 21702. The funeral service will follow at 1pm.
