Joseph Otto Ettenger, 74, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023. He was born on July 23, 1949, in Trenton, NJ to the late Robert and Mary (Menschner) Ettenger. He was the beloved husband to Camille Ettenger for 51 years.
Joseph was a dedicated Auditor for the state Legislator in NJ for 31 years and his commitment to his work was unparalleled. He approached his responsibilities with unwavering dedication and professionalism. Joseph's contributions to the state Legislator were highly regarded by his colleagues and constituents alike.
Joseph had an insatiable love for learning and excelled academically. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1967 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Rider University in 1971.
Outside of his work and studies, Joseph had a passion for cooking. He took great pleasure in creating and preparing meals as a "home chef." Sharing delicious dishes with loved ones brought him immense joy. Sports played a significant role in Joseph's life as well. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles football team and the Boston Celtics basketball team.
Joseph also dedicated his time to community organizations. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he found fulfillment through service and fellowship with like-minded individuals.
Joseph will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His memory lives on through those who survive him: his beloved wife Camille Ettenger; daughters Denise and Laura; sons-in-law Chris and Mike; grandchildren Katie, Will, Joe, Jon, Ashlan, and Michael; his brother Bob Ettenger and wife Karen, his sister Maryann Smith and husband Bob; his brother-in-law Ralph Letzia and sister-in-law Lorraine Letzia; as well as numerous relatives, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 23, 2023, at St. Michael Poplar Springs Catholic Church in Mount Airy, MD , from 10-11 AM, followed by a Mass at 11AM. Services will be livestream. (see link below)
