away
peacefully
surrounded
by
family
at
the home
of his
son
in
Monrovia
on
April
2A,
2A71.
He is survived by his
wife of
67
years
Julia
A.
Estanich.
Born
December 3, 1916,
in
Superior, Pennsylvania,
he
was
the
son
of
the
late John
and
Frances
Estanich.
Surviving in addition
to his
wife
are
his
son
John
Estanich
and
wife
Cathy
of
Monrovia,
son
William
Estanich
and
wife
Sherry
of
Myrtle
Beach,
South
Carolina,
daughter
Cynthia
Kruempel
and
husband
Craig of
Boca Raton,
Florida
and
son Joseph
Estanich,
Jr.
and
wife
Debbie
of Bridgeport, WVA.
He is
also
survived
by
seven
grandchildren Richard Estanich (Nisha),
Julia
Krzysiak
(Todd),
Michele
Cameron,
Joseph and
Jordan
Kruempel,
Alex
and
Emily
Estanich,
two
great
grandchildren Lennon
and
Jagger
Krzysiak.
He
served
in
the US
Army
during
WWII
with
the
28tr
Division,
fought
in
four major
campaigns,
and
was captured
during
the
Battle of
the
Bulge. He
was
held prisoner
until
the
end
of
the
war in
Europe.
His
awards and
decorations include the Combat
Infantryman
Badge, the
Bronze
Star,
the
Purple Heart
with
OLC,
the
POW
Medal
and
the Good Conduct
Medal.
After
his
discharge
in
September
1945, he
went to
work
for
the Federal
Government. He
graduated
from
George
Washington
University
with
a
degree
in
Business
Administration.
He
lived
in
Riverdale,
Maryland
until
he
retired from
the Treasury
Department
in
1974.
He retired
to Glenville,
WVA
and
Melbourne,
FL.
They
split their
year between
Maryland
and
South
Carolina
since 2001.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Stauffer Funeral Home 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy from 2-4 pm with a prayer service beginning at 3pm. Father Michael Ruane will be officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later date.
