Jose Antonio Puertas-Sojo

It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of our beloved, Jose Antonio Puertas Jr.’s passing. At just 54, Jose peacefully joined the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jose was the oldest brother of 5 and was devoted to his family. His 22-year marriage to Katie was a beautiful testament to love and companionship. For many years, Jose shared a home with his wife, Peaches- his fur baby, and Barbara, his mother-in-law. Jose was a cherished husband, brother and uncle.

His passions were as vibrant as his spirit. From cheering on the Washington Commanders and Capitals to casting a fishing line, Jose lived life to the fullest. His infectious laughter and love for grilling brought everyone together.

We are devastated by this loss and will forever hold Jose in our hearts until we meet him again, in the presence of the Lord.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.

A funeral service will take place at 11:30 am on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Garfield United Methodist Church, 13628 Stottlemyer Road in Smithsburg, MD. 

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
