Jose Camargo Michel

Jose Luis Camargo Michel passed away at Vindobona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, Maryland on Tuesday July 9th, 2019. Jose lost a 3-year-long hard-fought battle with gastric cancer, even after several trials at NIH. He would have turned 60 in 10 months.

He was born in La Paz, Bolivia on April 21st, 1960. Jose came to the United States at 18 and began a new life in New York; he brought only his guitar and a little cash. In January 1989, he married love of his life Silvia Bermeo and they went on to have 2 children; Erika and Sean.

After moving the family to Maryland in 2002, he began Mi Casa Home Improvement. Jose was generous, often donating his free time by giving back to the community, including providing needed renovations to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Germantown, MD. Jose could make anyone smile and laugh even on their worst day and he was always willing to provide a comforting voice or helpful advice. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A ceremony and funeral are scheduled for December in his hometown of La Paz, Bolivia. A mass is to be held at St Rose of Lima at 10am on July 20th. Memorial donations may be made to Jose Camargo’s GoFundMe account and expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
