Jorge Sousa Reis, 72, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Born on January 18, 1947, in Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Reis and Delmira Maria (de Sousa) Reis.
He was the loving husband of Maria U. Pereyra Reis.
Jorge was a masterful cabinet maker. He enjoyed fishing, making people laugh and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He had a passion for birds all his life and he loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Fernando J. Reis of Portugal, Elsa Pereira and husband Eurico D. Pereira of Frederick, Maryland and Nuno J. Reis of Rockville, Maryland; grandchildren, Kailyn Reis, Gabrielle Latour and husband Dustin Latour, Miguel Pereira, Ricardo Pereira; great grandchildren, Lucas Bandy, Noah Latour and Ellie Latour; brother, Mario Reis of Portugal and Henrique Reis and wife Maria P. Reis of Greenbelt, Maryland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and family in Argentina.
He is predeceased by his son, Rui Miguel Reis, brother, Aurelio Reis and nephew, Paulo Reis.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
A celebration of Jorge's life journey and reception will follow at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Home. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment Private.
