John G. "Pee Wee" Weakley, 79, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
Born on August 20, 1933, in Stanley, Virginia, he was the son of the late Reed O. and Liza V. (Offenbacker) Weakley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Jean (LaFourcade) Weakley.
John retired from the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission in 1987 after 35 years of employment as a tree surgeon.
He was the proprietor of the Lazy H Hunting Club in Paw Paw, West Virginia.
John will be fondly remembered for his love of hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing tip jars with his friends, especially his close friend Jake Jones, at the Boonsboro American Legion.
He is survived by his son, John R. Weakley of New Market, Maryland; two daughters, Bonnie Saunders and her husband Donald "Chubby" of Boonsboro, and Doris Walter and her companion Chris Schultz of Funkstown, Maryland; two brothers, Roger Weakley of Frederick, Maryland and Kenneth Weakley of Cumberland, Maryland; and five grandchildren, Dawn, Heather, Michelle, Gary and CJ. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by his sister, Groveen Thomas; and two brothers, William and Robert Weakley.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Joseph I. Donovan, III will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will be held at 3 p.m. at Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Funeral Home.
