Johnny Steelman

Mr. Johnny "Eddie" Edward Steelman, 57, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his home.. He was the husband of Susan Steelman for 35 years.

Born on May 28, 1953 in Bluefield, Virginia he was the son of the late Edward Woodrow and Hattie L. Steelman.

Eddie retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years and was most recently employed by Mark’s Equipment Service in Frederick.

Eddie loved listening to and playing Bluegrass music. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and four-wheeling in WV, camping at the river in Luray and fellowship with his brothers and family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Benjamin J. Steelman and companion Sarah Herbst of Rocky Ridge and Kristina M. Steelman of Adamstown; brothers Ralph Steelman and wife Juanita of Virginia Beach, VA, William Thyer Steelman and wife Sylvia of Frederick, Jesse of Martinsburg, WV; sisters Mabel Bernice Thompson and husband Clyde of Falling Waters, WV, Ginny Shaw of NV, Pattie Weddle and Ron Williamson of Punta Gorda, FL, Sandy Constance of Germantown, MD and Donna Eaton of Folsom, CA; mother-in-law Betty Malatt and husband Doug and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son Edward "Little Ed" Woodrow Steelman and his brother Bobby Roy Steelman and his father-in-law Carl Victor Shannaberger.

The family will receive friends from 6-9p.m. on Friday, January 14 at the Stauffer Funeral Home 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, January 15. Randy Allen will be officiating.
