John Lawrence Jones, Jr.

Mr. John Lawrence Jones, Jr., 51, of Mt. Airy died on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Montgomery General Hospital, Olney.

Born on March 6, 1957, in Frederick he was the son of the late John L.,Sr. and Annabelle V. Dorsey Jones. He was a concrete finisher with First Foundations and had worked for Schuster Concrete. John was a member of a member of Simpson United Methodist Church in Poplar Springs. He was a hard worker, enjoyed James Brown music and was a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Surviving are 2 children: Shawn A. Jones of Westminster and Candice O. Hamilton of Montgomery Village; 5 grandchildren: Suraya L. Jones of Westminster, Shawna L. McDougall, Dennis D. McDougall, Kailey D. McDougall and Tammy J. McDougall all of Montgomery Village; 8 brothers and sisters: Sharon Jones-Smallwood and husband Donald of Hagerstown, Amy Jones of Mt. Airy, Gregory Pumphrey, Ronnie Pumphrey and wife Roz all of Silver Spring, Anthony E. Jones of Pikesville, Charles G. Jones of Mt. Airy, Dewayne Jones and wife Debra of Gaithersburg and Kevin H. Jones of Mt. Airy; and special friends: Jeff Kimble, Lester Williams, Melody Brightful, Milton Bowens, Deacon and Miss Piggy.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, July 9, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St., Mt. Airy with Bishop Merle Lyles, Frederick Memorial Hospital Chaplain and Bishop Ross Jackson of West Falls Christian Community Church officiating.
Interment will be in Simpson Methodist Church Cemetery, Poplar Springs.
