John Harold Charity, Jr.

Mr. John Harold Charity, Jr., 45, of Frederick died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, MD, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 7, 1961 in Frederick he was the son of John H. and Alice (Selden) Charity, Sr. of Frederick. A graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, where he received his Associate's Degree, John also attended Towson State University. He was an account executive working in the Northern Virginia and Bethesda, MD areas.

A gifted trumpeter, John played in various marching bands at both Gov. Thomas Johnson High School and at Valley Forge Academy which helped him land a part in the movie Taps. He was a member of the glee club in school, loved to travel, especially throughout the Caribbean, and enjoyed model trains and airplanes. John was an avid basketball fan.

Besides his parents, survivors include two sisters, Sandra Charity Lawson and husband Nelson of Richmond, VA, Lisa Charity Jones and husband Kevin of Marriottsville, MD; nieces and nephews, Allison Jones and Elliott Jones both of Marriottsville, Randolph Lawson of Fairfax, VA, and Brian Lawson of Washington, DC; his aunt, Evelyn Scott of Roanoke, VA; uncle, George C. Seldon and wife Esther of Bedford, VA; cousins, Florence and Mya Hubert of Wayne, PA, Karen Charity Thompson and husband Terrence of Charlotte, NC, Lawrence L. Charity, Jr. and wife Natasha of Walkersville, Denise Goode and husband Rosco of Richmond, VA, Carolyn Brown of Lynchburg, VA , Shelby Read and Robin Braxton and husband Steve all of Bedford, VA. John will also be missed by his many friends and acquaintances.

Services: Funeral services will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, where John was a member, on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Rev. Dr. Burton Mack will officiate with burial following in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
